"Oudry – Dog guarding game" blanket

€49,00
A magnified hunting scene – between domesticated nature and scholarly art.

Short description
Silky fabric throw, printed with a reproduction of the work Dog Guarding the Game (1753) by Jean-Baptiste Oudry. A delicate homage to 18th-century animal painting, to enhance your moments of relaxation.

Official court painter and member of the Royal Academy as a history painter, Jean-Baptiste Oudry was especially famous during his lifetime for his animal scenes, a genre then considered minor, but prized by a clientele of great hunters and enlightened amateurs.

The work Dog Guarding the Game, exhibited at the Salon of 1753, illustrates Oudry's virtuosity in rendering textures: furs, plumage, and hunting trophies are painted with striking realism. Yet, the whole retains an artificial setting, with its ruined wall and hanging holds, typical of the painter's refined style.

Printed in high definition on one side, this scene is presented here on a soft and cozy throw. The silky fabric and white back make it both practical and decorative. It tastefully accompanies moments of relaxation in a living room, office, or bedroom.
